Gearing up for Graduation and Kindergarten

Head Start is gearing up for Graduation.  Kindergarten Transition starts with a visit to the local school districts Kindergarten classrooms. Students will get to meet the Kindergarten teachers and spend time with the Kindergarten students. At graduation the students will receive a backpack loaded with a summer activity pack and kindergarten supplies like crayons and glue. Students returning to Head Start in September will get a summer activity bag. Please talk with your students teacher if you will not be able to participate in the graduation ceremonies so that your child will get their summer bags or Kindergarten backpacks.

Federal and CACFP Review dates announced.

The Federal Review has been set for April 22-27, 2012. The review consists  of a team of individuals with expertise in Education, Wellness (Health and Nutrition), C.L.A.S.S. assessments, and Financial. A Federal Review team comes out every three years to review the BBNA Head Start program and determine if the program is meeting the high standards for a Federal Head Start Program.

The CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) review has been set for April 30, 2012 to May 2, 2012. The review is conducted by a single review from the State of Alaska CACFP program. The reviewer will check the meals to make sure they meet the guidelines set by the State program and that any food item is being served is nutritious for our students. The CACFP program reimburses all meals that meet the requirements and are served to are students in a family style setting.
